The prize has been promoted jointly by the three Societies on occasion of the 85th and 80th milestones associated with the discovery of the neutron by James Chadwick  in 1932 and the patent issued to Enrico Fermi in 1937 for the use of neutrons to enhance artificial radioactivity. The splendid opportunity for the awarding the first “Neutrons Matter” prize was the Neutrons Matter workshop held in Rome on 7-8th November 2017  to celebrate these milestones together with the global community.
